Femme N Bass

If you are in the electronic music scene in SLC even the slightest you have probably already heard of her, and for those of you that haven't need to get in the loop. DJ Sodie is not just one of the dopest female Drum N Bass DJs in SLC, she is flat out one of the dopest DJs period. Unfortunatly she is leaving us and taking off to go to school at Penn State. So i just wanted to give a shoutout and say good luck, we are all gonna miss ya!

Mesh Podcast Favorites

When Podcasting was first introduced to iTunes I wasn't all that impressed with the selection of podcasts they had. There where a select few that I liked, some about Apple computers or technology. When it comes to culture or indie music they still don't have the greatest selection, however they have added a few that I am really diggin', check 'em out:

:: The Sound of Young America - iTunes link here
:: Alternative Hip-Hop Lounge by Alpha Pup Records - iTunes Link
:: The Beat Oracle - iTunes Link
:: Misadventures in Taiwan - iTunes Link
(this girl is a crack-up man, very entertaining)

I will add more as I find them, so check back.

Eastpak Vs. Mysterious Al Rascal

Eastpak has a new line of bags out that are looking very cool. They have teamed up with an artist by the name of Mysterious Al Rascal and have created some bags that are very different from previous bags by the company. Looking good.

Danny Does China!

I know I am a little late on this one, but I though I would post it anyway because it's so amazing. For those of you who don't know who Danny Way is, he is a prefessional skateboarder who holds all kinds of world records, including the longest distance ever jumped on a skateboard (75 feet), and the highest ever jumped out of a halfpipe (23.5 feet). Well on July 9th Danny set out to set more records and to beat his own. He decided to jump the Great Wall of China! The photos and video are unreal, the jumps look like something someone would be doing on a snowboard. Mad respect to Danny for pushing the limits of the sport and taking shit to a whole new level, to the Chinese people for letting him do the jump, and to DC and Quicksilver for building this monsterous ramp!

*Show Alert*

If you would have mentioned Club Halo to me a few months ago I would have said "club what?" But with the help of Gravity Productions Club Halo has been bringing in shows that you should not be missing. Here are a couple for example:

:: Collette - The Hypnotized Tour: Friday, July 15th
:: Noel Sanger: Friday, August 19th
(I know that's aways away, I will remind when it gets near)

I See France = Hott Shit!

I am pretty sure my future wife's underwear drawer is going to consist only of underwear from I See France. These are the hottest underwear I have ever seen for girls, so all you ladies out there, if you have been looking for a place to find cute lil' undies, don't bother with that lame-ass Victoria's Secret shit, check out I See france. Not only are they cuter, cheaper and more practical, but the designs are dope too.

The Time Has Come! Solarseek 0.94

I have not been impressed with the past releases of Solarseek at all. Version 0.90 was greatly improved, but it still didn't work well enough for me to stop using Virtual PC. But the time has come! With the release of their latest version (0.94), I think I will finally be able to stop starting up Virtual PC everytime I want to log into Soulseek. For all you Mac users out there, I highly recommend it. Oh ya, and version 0.95 is coming soom, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

On a Personal Note

A couple of weekends ago my friends and I took a little road trip down to Lake Powell for some wakeboarding and other good ol' fashion redneck activities. We didn't get a houseboat this year, and it was pretty windy for the first few days making good water was hard to find. But the wind stopped and we were able to get some riding in and turned out to be a good little trip. Anyway, check out a little video I put together of the trip, REDNECK LIVIN' (you will need Quicktime to view).

Utah Arts Festival

For those of you able to go to the Utah Arts Festival, it looks like there was some cool stuff going on there. I was unable to attend, however I did see some of the photos of the "Urban Arts" section and it makes me wish I had gone. For more photos check out a couple Flickr albums:

Summer Drought?

Wow, is it just me or are there very few good shows coming up? Is this a summer drought or am I just not getting the memos? If any of you have any info on upcoming events in SLC please let me know, locals or non-locals, I would like to know.
