Armada Skis Video Podcasts

With being in China, I don't really miss U.S. television, I never really watched it all that much anyway. But there are times when kicking back and watching some mindless entertainment can do you some good. That's why I have found myself subscribing to and watching more video podcasts lately. Podcasts like MTV News and VH1 News keep me informed on the pop world stuff, but one podcast in particular has filled another need I am missing out on, the snow sports need. The Armada Ski podcast features interviews with their riders, footage from videos and all kinds of mouth-watering ski goodness. Highly recommended for even those with the option of watching television that's not in Chinese.

Mark Collection XIII

In light of the coming winter and snowboarding season, I introduce the Burton Mark Collection XIII. Although I think Burton is slightly overpriced, they do make very high-quality products, and their design is awesome. Not to mention they have been in the snowboaring game for longer than just about anyone else out there, so they do know a thing or to about what they do. The Mark Collection XIII includes a wide variety of ultra-stylish products including heavy jackets, snow pants, cashmere and wool sweaters, as well as many accessories.

The Big Yellow Book

I would be willing to say that typeface design is one of the oldest forms of design. For ages people have scratched symbols and words into rocks, made their marks on paper and now creating digital typefaces. I have great respect for those who create fonts and typefaces. Obviously so do the creators of the book, simply titled, Font Book. With 1,760 pages and 32,000 font samples, the Font Book is the largest font reference in the world. If you are a designer, desktop publisher, typographer or simply just like fonts, the Font Book is a must have.

Tycho

If you are a member of the design community, then you know of the much successful
artist by the name of Scott Hansen, AKA ISO50. If you haven't heard of him you should check out his work. And although his art is amazing, this post is about something you may not know about Scott Hansen, the artist/designer is also a musician. Scott has recently released his new full length album, following up his EP in 2002, under the name Tycho. Tycho's soothing electronic, blippy soundscapes, with occasional vocals are just as good as his design. The album was recently released on Merck and is available here.

Genre Now Radio

For many the pursuit to find new music is endless, and luckily enough, so is the amount of music. Internet radio is a great way to find new music, and I was recently tuned-in to Genre Now Radio presented by aNYthing (who's clothes are also worth a look) in partnership with Splay. Genre Now Radio plays a wide variety of indie rock, indie-pop, hip-hop, grime, electronic with an East Coast feel. Pretty much just good music, not focusing on all this genre/sub-genre bullshit.

Remix Rush: Le Disko

Hey boys and girls, sorry it has been so long. I made it safe and sound to Shanghai, China and have been getting settled. Hence the delay in posting. But TheDopeFiend is back in full effect. I am kick off the posting with a remix of the track Le Disko by Shiny Toy Guns. The track has been reworked by Boys Noize who is so incredibly hot right now. They cut nearly all the verses and vocals from the song, and add that crunchy electro-guitar sound we all love so much. Making for a hard hitting party anthem sure to make you shake your thing.
