We Are Still Here...

Please excuse the lack of posting. If you didn't know already, I am moving to Shanghai, China next week. Therefore I have been crazy-busy getting everything ready. We are still here and posting will be much more regular when things settle after the move. Thanks!

Remix Rush: Writing on the Wall

When hearing the music of North Carolina's Cities, one might think of Interpol, Snowden, or maybe even Radiohead. All this kind of falls into the "eh" genre for me, which is why the band never caught my eye until they released their latest album title Variations. The album features a slew of great electronic artists including Ladytron, Isan, Daedelus and Free The Robots who put their own twist on Cities' songs. A couple of my favorite re-works are both of the track "Writing on the Wall", done by Ladytron and Isan. I wouldn't be surprised if Variations sells more copies than the original album.

Infamy

From the creators of Scratch and Hype! comes the graffiti documentary Infamy. Infamy takes a deep look into the lives, mids, families and habits of seven individual graffiti writers from all across the nation. From the law-breaking art they create scaling buildings at night, to art displayed at galleries and museums, Infamy documents it all. "I didn't want to make another 'scene-movie' or a general overview of subculture and its history. Instead, we've set out to create a more hard-hitting, personal portrayal of the pain and joy of being addicted to the only illegal art form there is." says Doug Pray, director of the movie. For screening info check RESfest.com.

Well Threaded

In past job searches I have never found the standard job search websites (Monster, HotJobs, etc.) to be all that helpfull. Perhaps it's the industry that I am in, but they never seem to have quality search results that have gotten me anywhere. Awhile back I discovered Malakye, a job search website specifically for the action sports industry, and more recently discovered Well Threaded. Well Threaded is designed for those in search of jobs in the fashion and clothing industry. From Designers, to Sales Reps, to Models Well Threaded has jobs for many different positions. These types of niche job search sites make a lot more sense to me, and seem like they would work much better than the traditional sites.

Griffin Centerstage

Along with new features that are being added to the iPod, comes new accessories to compliment them. Such as the Griffin Centerstage Flip-Stand. The case not only protects your iPod with it's tough polycarbonate case, but it also features an anodized aluminum flip-stand that allows you to stand your iPod while watching movies. The case of course allows you access to all your ports and controls, and comes in four sleek colors.

Awaken, the Alarm Alternative

Waking up to that super-annoying alarm clock beeping just doesn't seem like the right way to start of your day. I've been looking for alternatives for a long time, even the radio alarm is annoying most the time. I recently got clued-in on an application for the Mac called Awaken. This nifty little app allows you to set the alarm time, and then customize a specific iTunes playlist that will slowly fade-in to the volume you choose. Not only that, but Awaken allows you to set a sleep timer as well, so you can fall asleep and awake to and music you choose.

Kidrobot Apparel

It's been a long time coming, but it's here... Kidrobot Apparel. For years now they have been feeding those with the vinyl addiction. Now they are supplying us with some really great threads to feed your fashion addiction. I am personally really digging these limited edition Bubble and Monogram hoodies done by Tilt, only 228 of each were made. They also have a whole poo-load of tees as well. Pocketbook beware.

iLugger

I have always thought it would be cool to have an easy way to transport your iMac. The computer is so light and compact, it seems it wouldn't be too hard. Recently while searching for a way to take my iMac overseas I found the iLugger. This is a bag designed for the 17 and 20 inch iMacs that makes is easy to take your iMac with you. The bag also provides a hard plastic screen protector making it safe too. So if you are a DJ wanting a bigger display than your MacBook is giving you, the iLugger may be your ticket. The actual design/colors of the bags looks like it could use some work, and the price seems a little much, but hopefully the iLugger will inspire better bags to come.
